Growing Information for Ireland
Sowing Time in Ireland
Sow indoors from February to April.
Direct sow outdoors from April to May.
Germination
10 to 20 days in soil temperatures between 10 and 18 degrees.
Transplanting
Transplant when seedlings are pencil thick. Traditionally planted into deep holes to encourage long white stems.
Spacing
Allow 15 centimetres between plants and 30 centimetres between rows.
Position
Full sun in fertile, well drained soil enriched with organic matter.
Harvest
Harvest from September through winter, depending on sowing time and variety maturity.
