The Leek is a vegetable part of the amaryllis family, with the edible parts of the plant being a bundle of leaf sheaths, it has a small bulb with a white cylindrical stalk. Having a mild onion like taste, it can be eaten raw or cooked. Primarily used in soups and stews leeks can be used as a raw ingredient in salads.
