Sowing Time in Ireland
Sow outdoors from March to June. In milder areas, sowing can continue into early July for autumn harvests.
Germination
10 to 20 days in soil temperatures between 7 and 18 degrees.
Spacing
Sow thinly in shallow drills. Thin seedlings to 3 to 5 centimetres apart once established.
Position
Full sun in light, stone free, well drained soil. Avoid freshly manured soil as it can cause forking.
Harvest
Harvest from June onwards depending on sowing time. Autumn sowings can store well in the ground.

Carrots grow best when sown directly into soil, but if you are building your vegetable garden gradually, many customers combine direct sown crops like carrots with strong young vegetable plants for a steady harvest through the season.
